Royal Navy sailor named top armed forces chef

A Royal Navy sailor who spiced up menus on patrol around the world has been named top chef in the armed forces.

Petty Officer Daryl Hall was awarded Armed Forces Caterer of the Year after he treated the 220-strong crew of HMS Richmond to fine dining and world cuisine despite the challenges of cooking and restocking a warship at sea during a 2015 deployment to the Gulf and Mediterranean.

The 30-year-old from Plymouth was nominated for his hard work during the ship’s nine month deployment on on counter-drugs and counter-piracy operations.
